01 Agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Cortextest website at cortextest.com ("the Service"), operated by [FYLL INN: Ditt navn] ("we", "us", "Cortextest").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

02 The Service

Cortextest provides free, web-based cognitive assessments designed for educational and self-exploration purposes. The Service currently offers:

• A 40-item cognitive assessment that estimates an IQ score
• A 15-item logical reasoning test
• A working memory test with three subtests
• A free Score Certificate for the main assessment

We may add, modify, or remove tests at any time without notice. Our test items are based on established psychometric research and traditions (Raven's Progressive Matrices, Baddeley's working memory model, classical syllogistic logic), but our tests are not clinical instruments.

03 Not a clinical or diagnostic tool

Our tests are educational tools. They are not:

• Clinical diagnostic instruments
• Substitutes for assessment by a licensed psychologist
• Suitable for diagnosing learning disabilities, giftedness, ADHD, autism, or any medical condition
• Norm-referenced against a representative population sample
• Acceptable as evidence in employment, education, immigration, or legal proceedings

If you have concerns about your cognitive function or seek a formal assessment, consult a licensed psychologist or healthcare professional.

04 About your score

Your test score is an estimate based on your performance compared to other people who have taken our tests — a self-selected, non-representative population. Scores from our site:

• May vary significantly from a clinical IQ score
• Are affected by sleep, stress, mood, motivation, distraction, and familiarity with the test format
• Can be inflated by retaking the same test (practice effects)
• Should be treated as one data point among many, not as a verdict on your intellectual ability

05 Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use automated systems (bots, scripts, scrapers) to access the Service
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our test items
• Reproduce, redistribute, or sell our test items or content
• Use the Service to harm or defraud others
• Interfere with the operation of the Service or other users' access
• Use a Score Certificate to misrepresent your cognitive abilities for fraudulent purposes (employment, immigration, etc.)

We reserve the right to block access to anyone violating these terms.

06 Free Score Certificate

What it is

After completing the main 40-item test, you may generate a free "Certificate of Completion" displaying:

• Your name (as you entered it)
• The estimated score you achieved
• The corresponding percentile
• A unique certificate ID
• The date of issue

The certificate is generated entirely in your browser and downloaded as a PDF. We don't collect your name or store any data — the name you type stays on your device.

What it is NOT

The certificate is a decorative document. It is not an officially recognized credential, a clinical assessment, a legal certification, or evidence of intellectual ability for any official purpose. It simply documents that you took our test and what score you achieved. You may not use it to misrepresent your abilities for fraudulent purposes (employment, immigration, etc.).

07 Intellectual property

All content on the Service — including test items, design, code, text, graphics, and the Cortextest name and logo — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by Norwegian and international copyright law.

You may not copy, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission, except that:

• You may print or save your own generated Score Certificate
• You may share screenshots of your own test results for personal, non-commercial use
• You may quote brief excerpts from our public content (such as the homepage) for criticism, commentary, or news reporting (fair use / sitatretten)

08 Advertising and third-party links

The Service is supported by advertising through Google AdSense. We do not control the content of ads displayed and are not responsible for products or services advertised. Some links on the Service may take you to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those sites.

09 Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by Norwegian law, we disclaim all warranties, including:

• Implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• Warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of test scores

Consumer rights guaranteed by Norwegian law (forbrukerkjøpsloven, kjøpsloven) are not affected by this section.

10 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Norwegian law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited, as the Service is provided free of charge.

We are not liable for:

• Decisions you make based on your test results
• Indirect, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
• Service downtime or technical failures

This section does not limit liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Norwegian law.

11 Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through a notice on the site. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12 Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and dispute resolution survive termination.

13 Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Norwegian courts, with Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett) as venue.

If you are a consumer resident in the EEA, you may also bring claims in the courts of your country of residence, and you may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
